The Karachi Port handled 131,657 tonnes of cargo comprising1 85,328 tonnes of import cargo and 46,329 tonnes of export cargo including 4,345 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 85,328 tonnes comprised of 26,906 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,625 tonnes of general cargo; 21,837 tonnes of bulk cargo: 16,100 tonnes of coal; 935 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 1,771 tonnes of wheat; 3,031 tonnes of rock phosphate and 28,960 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,329 tonnes comprised of 35,164 tonnes of containerised cargo; 50 tonnes of general cargo; 11,115 tonnes of bulk cargo: and 3,640 tonnes of cement; 2,335 tonnes of iron and 5,140 tonnes of loose bulk cement. Six ships namely UASC Sharjah, Olivia, APL Brisbane, Star Sea Breeze, Tabernacle Prince and African Eagle with three container ships, two bulk cargo ships and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Two container vessels viz Rio Bravo and Emirates Kabir are currently at the berths. Five ships namely Angelica Schulte, Thien Quang 9, Ocean Felicity, Magnum Fortune and Rio Bravo with one LSF oil tanker, one meal carrier, one general cargo ship, one coal carrier and one container ship respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while a container ship namely Emirates Kabir is expected to sail on Saturday.
Five vessels viz MT Quetta, Ginga Hawk, KY Venus, Marika and OOCL Busan with one crude oil tanker, one ethanol ship, one orthoxylene ship, one base oil tanker and one container ship respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two container vessels viz Kota Azam and Wan Hai-603 are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 111,277 tonnes, comprising 76,375 tonnes of import cargo and 34,902 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,133 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Friday.
A total number of six ships namely CV Michaelas, CV APL Chile, CV Safmarine Ngami, MV Maganari, MV Harsanadi and MV Estia are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, chemicals and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours. One ship with furnace oil is currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of four vessels carrying containers and chemicals are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.
