Punjab University vice-chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran said education was the key to progress and development of any nation. He expressed his views on ninth Foundation Day Academic Prize Distribution ceremony organised by School for Contemporary and Islamic Learning (SCIL) at Alhamra Cultural Complex here on Saturday.
He said Muslim had become an example for the world because of illiteracy, adding educational backwardness and illiteracy was the only reason of all devastation's and natural punishments. Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran said the Muslims had not realised that the 722 verses of Holy Quran, which was 1/8th of the Holy Book, stressed to focus on the mysteries of the universe.
He said Almighty Allah had promised His blessings including power, respect and wealth to only that nation who was educated. He said Allah did not value verbal beliefs. "Our religion is for the betterment of the world. The nation is always dominant who studied the mysteries of universe and create new knowledge."
He said the exercise of offering prayer and fasting made us strong physically and mentally. He advised students to join research-oriented profession in future because an intelligent person could make his future bright. Dr Mujahid stressed the students that they would abide by discipline in life. He congratulated the students and their parents who got prizes.
SCIL Director Gul Abbas Mela thanked PU vice chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran to come and appreciate the students. He congratulated the successful students and stressed their parents, if they wanted to see their children in a better future they must co operate with teachers. He advised their parents would watch their children to stop negative use of mobile and internet.
Students showed their performance and praised to Almighty Allah with different ideas. Successful students got prizes in the ceremony. School Director Gul Abbas Mela, Principal Mrs Zakira Yousuf, students and their parents and Principal Punjab University College of Information Technology Professor Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar were also present on the occasion.
