Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has taken a serious notice of the "kidnappings and killings" of Hindus besides the forced conversion of Hindu girls in Sindh, and sought a detailed report from the Minorities department. Bilawal took notice of the matter after a recent incident in Mirpur Mathelo, where a 17-year-old Hindu girl, Rinkle Kumari, was reportedly converted to Islam forcibly and married to a boy, Naveed Shah.
Reliable sources inside the Provincial Minorities department, told Business Recorder that for the first time, Bilawal had taken notice of the killings and kidnappings of Hindus and their forced conversion. The PPP Chairman has asked the Minister for Minorities Dr Mohan Lal Kohistani to submit a detailed report in this regard.
The Minister, in a recent meeting with Bilawal, had informed him about the Hindu community's "rising sense of insecurity" especially in the rural areas of Sindh following the incidents of kidnappings of Hindu girls and their alleged forced conversion.
Dr Kohistani presented some rough figures of the murder and kidnappings of Hindus to the PPP Chairman but Bilawal asked him to come with a comprehensive report, sources said.
Bilawal also suggested Dr Kohistani to organise a seminar of Hindus in any city of Sindh and ensure the participation of Hindus from all walks of life where they would share problems related to their community. Bilawal asked the minister to sent report of the proposed seminar to him. It may be noted here that this was the first one-on-one meeting of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari with any provincial minister of Sindh.
Later, the Minister issued directives to the concerned department to prepare a detailed report on the killing, kidnapping and conversion of Hindus.
