The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will kick off a five-day Spring Festival from March 13, 2012, in which colourful events including Farmer Convention, Agricultural Exhibition, flower show, fancy bird show, horse and cattle show, tent pegging, milk competition, cow and buffaloes beauty competition and cultural shows as well as international seminar and conferences will be held.
The festival is aimed at promoting modern agricultural practices, and outreach activities in a bid to increase per acre production of various crops, fruits and vegetable to cope with the food insecurity situation confronting our homeland.
On March 13, tent pegging competitions would be opened at Race Course Ground, UAF, situated at Jail Road. Besides it, Agricultural Exhibition, Flower Show and Fancy Birds Show would also be inaugurated at D-Ground of the varsity. In evening, Mehfil-e-Milad will be held at Iqbal Auditorium. The competition will continue till 17th of March. It is worth mentioning here that the University is used to hold such festival twice in a year and it has become an annual feature. Last year, tens of thousands people along with their families thronged to the festival to share festivities and get rid of the tension of routine life. The same spirit is likely to be witnessed this time. University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan has constituted various committees to make the event success. The preparation of the festival is in full swing at the campus.
