Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), in line with its vision to provide opportunities to all its employees and their families, has announced that 300 children of core workers and junior officers have been approved for the utility's Azm Scholarships programme.
Offering vocational training opportunities in six different disciplines, the Azm Scholarship programme will be an ongoing initiative and it reflects KESC's pledge and resolve to offer better life for not only its employees but ensuring the same for their families as well. Tabish Gauhar, CEO of KESC, said in a message on the occasion, "KESC feels greatly blessed over having successfully launched the AZM Scholarship Programme and we share the joy and happiness of the deserving candidates and their families. We wish every single candidate, a bright future and success in their endeavours."
Offered for the first time in the history of KESC, AZM Scholarship Programme will be funded under the Employees Support Fund (ESF) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. This year, under the Azm programme, a total of 277 male and 23 female applicants have been extended the opportunity to seek admission in Aman Tech. Candidates who clear the Aman Tech admission test would be eligible to enter in one of the, 12 month long training programmes, that include: automobile technology, general electrician, mechanical technology, refrigeration and air conditioning, welding fabrication and pipe work, and, computer aided designing/computer aided machining (CAD/CAM).
Minimum qualification to apply for Azm Scholarship was Matriculation, with both passed and waiting for results candidated being eligible. In total, 304 children applied, of whom 300 met the criteria.
Despite this overwhelming response, KESC management decided to accept all eligible applicants this year with the desire to offer them this life changing opportunity. Core staff members and junior officers whose children have been awarded the scholarship include assistant engineers, electrical mechanical officers, line maintenance officers, meter inspection officers, line men, meter readers, fitters, cable jointers, electricians, plant operators, mechanics, welders, boiler operators, turbine operators, store keepers, foremen, switchboard officers, security men, and, senior and junior karkuns.-PR
