Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that change is just round the corner and those claiming to bring change are now getting out of sight.
While addressing the meeting of PML-N Punjab general council here at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Nawaz claimed, "they have successfully brought the change in the past and Pakistan will soon witness a real change which I see is not too far. Every PML-N worker is revolutionary and capable of bringing the change. They are the catalysts of change."
The PML-N President told the participants of the meeting that a revolutionary programme was being evolved to change the destiny of the country, bring prosperity to the people and raise their living standard. He said PML-N would implement its agenda with the co-operation of the masses for ensuring sovereignty of the country and a dignified status for Pakistan in the comity of nations.
The PML-N President said that PML-N had always promoted politics of principles and owing to its clean politics a change would soon be witnessed in the country. Nawaz congratulated Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on his unopposed election as President PML-N and asked him to further accelerate the mission of public service. He said Punjab government had taken revolutionary measures for the uplift of education sector.
He said youth would get benefit from programmes of setting up of IT labs in high schools and distribution of laptops among talented boy and girl students and would serve the country to make it reach to the heights of progress and development. He said that services of Shahbaz Sharif for the people were being acknowledged in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well. He said that had democratic process continued in the country and democratic governments had been allowed to complete their tenure, the situation in Pakistan would have been different. He said that had PML-N been given the opportunity to implement its development agenda, Pakistan would have been far ahead of other countries of the region.
Recalling his era, he said there was no terrorism or extremism in the country during the era of PML-N. Pakistan was made a nuclear power in that era and this capability was achieved not with the borrowed money but with the hard earned money of people of Pakistan, he added.
Nawaz recalled that Pakistan was planning to export electricity to India during his era, adding the country had exported sugar to New Delhi at that times, but now it's importing. "There was no power and fuel crisis during my era," he added. Furthermore, he said, motorway was constructed through indigenous resources and industrial process was accelerated.
Moreover, Nawaz during his visit to the residence of Colonel Sheraz Ali Khan who laid down his life in the line of duty, told reporters that entrance of generals in politics was inappropriate. He advised the generals to stay away from politics. "Stature of the armed forces would increase if it limits itself to defending the borders of the country," he added.
