A gang of robbers on Monday looted gold ornaments worth over Rs 1.25 million from a jewellery shop located in the limits of Preedy police station. According to police, the incident took place at Arafat Jewellers located in main Sarafa Bazar Saddar in the jurisdiction of Preedy police station where four unidentified armed men barged into the shop and held all staff and customers hostage at gunpoint.
Later, they took 250 grams of gold ornaments worth over Rs 1.25 million from the shop and managed to flee in leaps and bounds. When contacted, DSP Ali Asif confirmed the incident, saying that investigation in this regards was in progress and the culprits would be nabbed, shortly. Meanwhile, Haroon Chand, representative of Sarafa Bazar association condemned the said incident. He demanded stern measures to avert such incidents in future.
