PIC case: Tribunal records statements

The Defective Drugs Inquiry Tribunal recorded the statements of Professor of Pathology, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore Dr Nosheen Yousuf, and Chairman, Pharmacy Department, University of Veterinary Sciences Ms Farzana Chaudhri, Ex-Drugs Controller, Pakistan, Rauf Khalid, on Tuesday.
They also produced documents in support of their statements. The Tribunal questioned them about various aspects of the matter being probed by it. Rauf sought some time to file a supplementary statement and place the same along with documentary evidence on record. He was directed to appear before the Tribunal on April 7.
The tribunal issued notices to Director General, Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory, Lahore, Dr Muhammad Ashraf Baber, and Professor of Pharmacology, University of Punjab, Lahore, Dr Bashir Ahmad for March 7. The Tribunal is probing the matter to ascertain causes of deaths of patients of PIC and to fix responsibility at each stage and to make recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future.
