Prices tended higher on the wholesale grain market on Wednesday as grams and Guwar maintained rising trend due to strong demand, dealers said. Commenting on the rising trend in the prices, commodity experts said that major reason behind the present trend in the market is exports factor, which may continue in the coming days.
On the grams side, grams Australia No 1 higher by Rs 200 to Rs 7400-7700, grams Australia Dall No 1 picked up Rs 100 to Rs 8800-9100, grams 50x50 went up sharply on good demand, gaining Rs 400 to Rs 8500-8800, yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 50 to Rs 4400-4600, yellow peas Ukraine inched up by Rs 50 to Rs 4300-4500, yellow peas Ukraine Dall followed same pattern, gaining Rs 150 to Rs 4900-5100, however, Bajra low type was down by Rs 200 to Rs 2400 while best quality was unchanged at Rs 3600, they said.
On the cereals side, Makai low type picked up Rs 75 to Rs 2575 and the good quality gained Rs 100 to Rs 2650, Juwar was quoted up at Rs 2500, Guwar both Sindh and Punjab rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2500-2600, other commodities retained overnight levels in process of trading, they said.
On the seeds side, rapeseeds Nawabshah low type did not move any side at Rs 2250 while the good type gained modestly by Rs 25 to Rs 2300, rapeseeds Mirpurlane low type was up by Rs 75 to Rs 2225 and best quality rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2250, cakes inched higher by Rs 20 to Rs 810-820, Til appreciated by Rs 50 to Rs 3250-3650, cottonseeds oilcake with bag Sindh low type shed Rs 50 to Rs 500 while the superior quality stayed put at Rs 750 in the absence of active demand, dealers said. On the rice sector, Irri-6 Sindh was higher by Rs 25 to Rs 3325-3400 and Irri-white (broken) gained Rs 100 to Rs 2600-2700, other items maintained overnight levels, they said.
