The targeted killing spree continued in the city, as four more persons including an activist of Sunni Tehreek (ST) and a banned outfit were killed in a short span of an hour on late Friday night. According to police, a man was shot dead in Mairaj-un-Nabi Colony, Orangi Town in the limits of Mominabad police station.
The victim, Naseeruddin, 32, son of Mohammad Ali was sitting outside his home in Sector 10 Mairaj-un-Nabi colony, when two armed men came there on motorcycle and opened indiscriminate fire on him. Resultantly, he died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities.
DSP Tariq Malik said the victim was dispenser in ZMC dispensary in Orangi Town and his elder brother was an activist of MQM who was also killed in similar manner few years ago. However, the victim had no affiliation with any political party. Some unconfirmed reports said that the victim was an active worker of a banned outfit but police deny the same. Later, police handed over his body to the heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report.
An activist of ST was shot dead in Godhra in the limits of New Karachi Industrial Area police station. The incident took place in Sector 11-F New Karachi near Rehmat Medical Centre where unidentified armed men fired gunshots at Mohammad Saleem Qadri, 19 son of Aslam Qadri. Resultantly, he sustained fatal wounds and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to ASH for legal formalities. ST Spokesman Fahim Sheikh said the victim was an activist of ST New Karachi unit. He demanded of the government to arrest the killers. After the incident tension gripped Godhra and its surrounding areas where shops and market were closed.
Another man was gunned down at a barbershop in Mujahid Colony in the precincts of Orangi Town police station. The victim, Fahimuddin, 27, son of Yaseen was the resident of sector 10 Mujahid Colony, Orangi Town. He was targeted when he was sitting at a barbershop. Resultantly he died on the spot. In another incident, a man was shot when he resisted a robbery bid near Pakistan Chowk in the jurisdiction of Pakistan Bazaar police station. The victim was identified as Wali Muhammad Somoro, 50. Police shifted him to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), where he succumbed to his injuries. No case was registered till filing of this report.
