Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has alleged that Pakistan Muslim League (N) is making strenuous efforts for strengthening PML-N with the active support of Police.
Addressing a hurriedly press conference on Sunday afternoon she said that Sardar Police Station of Sialkot is converted into a hub drug pushers and land mafia and these gangs are patronised by a leading political figure.
Police are working as political wing of Pakistan Muslim League-N in Sialkot and Police have totally failed in maintaining law and order in the district as a result of which anti-social elements and criminals are busy in their notorious activities, she said.
Dr Firdous alleged that PLM-N is using Police and criminals for forcing the people to change their political affiliations with the concept of strengthening the party. Sialkot Police are reluctant to register FIR against the killers of Sameer Ahmad which indicates the total failure of police, she said.
She further stated it is high time that we should collectively work for purging Police stations from touts and vagabonds for ensuring the justice on the bases of merit adding police station have become a major source of income of Thana and police touts. The Information Minister urged upon the Punjab Chief Minister to take notice of murder of Sameer Ahmad and direct Sialkot police for registering FIR against the killers immediately.
The basic duty of police is to protect the life and property of the people and it is very unfortunate that police are protecting and sheltering the criminals and watching the interests of influential ones in Sialkot, she said. Later, the Information Minister along with hundreds of people marched to DPO office as a mark of protest.
The Information Minister directed the District Police Officer to register FIR and arrest the culprits involved in the murder of Sameer Ahmad immediately.
