Following the death of a prisoner of Khairpur jail, Qalandar Bux, on late Monday at Civil Hospital Karachi, family members of the deceased staged protest at main Numaish Chowrangi along with the dead body, which created severe gridlock on Shahrah-e-Pakistan. According to police, the inmate succumbed to his injuries at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
They said the deceased along with three other persons was assaulted through gas cylinder in the jail. Resultantly, he sustained serious injuries while others received minor wounds. He was shifted to CHK where he lost his life during treatment. Following his death, the family members along with the corpse staged protest demonstration at Numaish Chowrangi. The protesters, who chanted slogans against a banned outfit and burnt tiers, demanded the authorities to take the responsible to task. Later, heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot and dispersed the protesters.
