World’s largest golden ring is on display in Sharjah
ISLAMABAD: To all jewelry lovers, the world’s largest and most expensive gold ring, the Star of Taiba, is now on display in the UAE emirate of Sharjah.
According to Al Arabiya news, the 21-carat “Najmat Taiba” displayed at Sahra Center has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records and endorsed by the World Gold Council.
The enormous jewelry piece weighs more than 60 kilos and is valued at $3 million (11 million UAE dirhams). It is studded with 5.1 kilograms of precious stones and diamond, along with 615 Swarovski crystals. It took 55 jewelry smiths a total of 45 days to create the golden ring, working for 10 hours each day.
The ring was produced in 2000 and at that time, it cost the owner $547,000. However, gold prices have since then skyrocketed and are now trading at more than $1,300 an ounce. Thus, the value of the ring has gone up to $3 million.
