Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Haji Habibur Rehman said that he had took up the funds' shortage issue to the Punjab government and appealed sufficient funds for the department immediately. He said department has moved the case to government and hopefully it would be resolved on priority basis.
While talking to the journalists here at Police Headquarters on Thursday during a cash award-distribution ceremony among police officials, he said that police were taking affective steps against kidnapping for ransom incidents. Police had probed and arrested the criminal gangs involved for kidnapping for ransom crimes in Hafizabad, Rawalpindi and other parts of Punjab and it proved good results.
Earlier IGP distributed cash awards worth 3.2 million among 70 police officials for their outstanding performance against head-money criminals. IGP greeted police officials over their good performance and said that they are real heroes and department is feeling proud of them. He said police profession is a noble one and police officials could provide relief to the general public if they do work with dedication and commitment. He also praised the DPO Jhang and Chaniot and their subordinates who participated in encounters against criminal gangs.
