Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has constituted a 'high level committee' to review the issues related to Gorakh Hills project and submit its report within a week, Business Recorder learnt on Thursday. The decision was taken in a meeting of Board of Directors (BoD) of Gorakh Hills Development Authority (GHDA) chaired by the Sindh chief minister at the CM House, here a few days back.
Minister for Tourism Mohammad Ali Malkani, Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Minister for Law and Prison Ayaz Soomro, Minister for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Secretaries of the said departments, Director General GHDA Engineer Nazeer Hussein Chakrani, Senior member Board of Revenue, Deputy Commissioner and SSP Dadu and others attended the meeting.
Reliable sources, who were present in the meeting, told Business Recorder that Director General GHDA Engineer Nazeer Hussein Chakrani briefed the meeting about the issues pertaining to the project. He told that land of Gorakh Hills station had not been allotted to the GHDA despite a number of meetings were held with the administration of Dadu district. A scheme about Resort at Gorakh Hills was launched with cost of about Rs 900 million with support of the federal government while the approval of the said scheme was given by ECNEC in 2005 but the federal government had not released 50% amount as per policy to the Sindh government yet, he added.
Chakrani also briefed about the on-going schemes and non-availability of funds for many others. He said that check posts had been set up at Gorakh Hills but the local police administration had not deployed force there yet.
The committee consisting of Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Minister for Tourism Mohammad Ali Malkani, Minister for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Secretary Tourism Syed Safdar Ali Shah and others would meet within next couple of days where Director General GHDA Engineer Nazeer Hussein Chakrani would brief it.
It would form a comprehensive report and make recommendations for the project, sources added. It may be noted here that Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Mohammad Abbas had also called meeting a few weeks back regarding land allotment matter. He had asked the authorities concerned to allot the land to the GHDA but the matter is still unresolved.
