Following the firing incident at jewellery shop at Quaid-e-Azam Colony that left five persons injured, the shopkeepers of the area staged protest demonstration to express resentment against the extortion mafia. According to police sources, unidentified persons sprayed a jewellery shop located in Quaid-e-Azam colony in the jurisdiction of Mobina Town police station with bullets, leaving five persons Fareed, Musawer Khan, Ghulam Anwar, Abdullah and Dilshad injured.
The injured were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Following the incident, the shopkeepers at Quaid-e-Azam Colony pulled down their shutters in protest against extortion mafia. The protesters said that persons belonged to extortionist mafia opened indiscriminate gunshots at jewellery shop owned by Fareed over his refusal to pay a ransom. They also demanded to the government to take stern measures against the persons involved in this incident.
Later, heavy contingent of the law enforcers reached to the spot and brought situation in control. The protesters after the assurance of the authorities to provide security to them dispersed from the place, peacefully. However, the senior police officials dispelled the involvement of extortionists behind the incident, saying that a gang of looters, who wanted to rob the said jewellery shop, opened indiscriminate gunshots when they faced resistance during robbery. No case was registered till filing of this report.
