Leader of Businessmen Group and Former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Siraj Kassim Teli has said that establishment of Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) will play a vital role to enhance trade between the two countries and all problems, hurdles in the way of trade would be removed soon.
Inaugurating the head office of PAJCCI house at KCCI building, he expressed hope that PAJCCI will accelerate the pace of trade between two countries. He said PAJCCI would facilitate the business community of both countries to boost two-way trades and explore new business avenues. He was optimistic that PAJCCI, comprising of representatives of leading chambers of both countries, will make deliberations for mutual interest of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Teli said that positive thinking and initiatives from the Afghan and Pakistan governments and private sectors will bring economic excellence for two countries and the region. He assured best cooperation from KCCI to achieve the desired objectives and felicitated the founding President of PAJCCI Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Co-President Haji Khanjan Alkozay and four Vice Presidents of PAJCCI from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Founding President PAJCCI, Mohammad Zubair Motiwala said that there was a need to increase frequency of rail service because the goods transportation through trucks used for transit trade created many problems. He said that the chamber will explore opportunities in various sectors, including cement, sugar, textile etc. He emphasised the need to dispel the misunderstanding from both sides and explore the existing huge bilateral trade potential.
He articulated that the informal trade will be formalised and its benefit will be passed to the genuine business community. He informed that the PAJCCI delegation will call-on the Presidents of Pakistan and Afghanistan soon. President KCCI Mian Abrar Ahmad said that formation of PAJCCI is a vital step forward to promote regional trade particularly with Pakistan and Afghanistan and generally with Saarc bloc.
He felicitated the founding President of PAJCCI Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Co-President Haji Khanjan Alkozay, Vice Presidents PAJCCI (Pakistan) Engr Daroo Khan and Usman Bashir Bilour and Vice Presidents PAJCCI (Afghanistan) Yonus Momand and Atiqullah Mominzada and assured entire support from KCCI.
Co-President PAJCCI and First Vice Chairman Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) Haji Khanjan Alkozay recalled that two years back he as Vice Chairman of ACCI signed MoU with Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry to form the Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber. PAJCCI is formed with the joint efforts of ACCI & KCCI along with the cooperation and representation of Chaman and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Chambers from Pakistan and Kabul , Qandhar, Nangharhar, Jalalabad and Khost Chambers from Afghanistan. He said that the PAJCCI will play a key role to resolve the transit trade problems and barriers/ bottleneck in the bilateral trade.
Vice President PAJCCI (Pakistan) and Vice President FPCCI Engr Daroo Khan stated that the PAJCCI has transformed the vision of Joint Chamber into reality. He said that Karachi, Torkhum and Chaman are acting as bridge for Pak-Afghan bilateral trade. He said that India had given free trade access for dry fruits to Afghanistan . If Pakistan gives similar offer, Afghan dry fruits, coal, timber products may be imported to Pakistan and after value-addition Pakistan may export to countries worldwide.
Vice President PAJCCI (Afghanistan) & Vice Chairman (Commercial) ACCI, Yonus Momand expressed gratitude and compliments to Pakistani counterparts for joint efforts to form PAJCCI and sought similar cooperation in future. Senior Advisor Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACCI) Daood Moosa and Member Board & Chairman of International Affairs Committee ACCI Azarakhsh Hafezi also spoke on the occasion.
President Chaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Haji Jamaluddin, former President CCCI Hameedullah, Managing Committee Member CCCI Abdul Qayyum Kakar, Senior Vice President KCCI, Younus Muhammad Bashir, Vice President KCCI Zia Ahmed Khan, Directors of PAJCCI ( Pakistan ), Talat Mahmood, Jawed Bilwani, Junaid Makda, A.Q. Khalil and Directors PAJCCI ( Afghanistan ) also participated in the ceremony. Mementos and gifts were also exchanged on this occasion.
