The Lahore High Court on Thursday directed the Punjab government to ensure purchase of non-spurious medicines for public hospitals of the province and present elaborative policy in the court by March 27. The court was holding proceedings in a petition of a bar member seeking directions for transparent policy to purchase medicines for public hospitals.
The court held that pure food and genuine medicine is the basic right of citizens. The petitioner submitted that the chief executive of hospitals have joined hands with drug inspectors and administering spurious medicines in the hospitals.
