Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr Farooq Sattar on Friday said education standard in OPF institutions would be further improved through ensuring possible facilities to students as well as staff there. He said that some projects are underway to ensure quality education in OPF institutions at Islamabad, Punjab and Azad Kashmir including training of staff and improvement in infrastructure development.
In an exclusive talk with APP, he said, "I would correct certain matters and move ahead with positive approach," adding that he would turn stern on persons, creating problems in the OPF institutions. Dr Sattar said those who are responsible for creating trouble in smooth functioning of the institutions would be taken to task, hinting to initiate accountability process against such elements.
"I have received complaints, which would be addressed through accountability process. My objective is to further improve the education standard of OPF institutions," he said. Farooq Sattar said problems of teachers would also be addressed. Commenting on OPF housing schemes in various cities, the minister said efforts are afoot to have public-private partnership for this purpose. He said that investment will be attracted through Overseas Pakistanis Consortium and government will make every possible effort for providing best accommodation facilities.
Farooq Sattar expressed firm resolve to do something for overseas Pakistanis so as to provide them better opportunities when they reach home. He said considerations are underway to provide even better health and insurance facilities to overseas Pakistanis, giving them a lucrative environment on coming home.
The minister said that upto 70 Welfare Assistants would be appointed at airports after approval from the Prime Minister to facilitate overseas Pakistanis. He assured that compensation would be made to those remaining genuine affected, who suffered losses during Iraq invasion of Kuwait.
