US soya bean futures hit a six-month high early on Friday, rising for a fourth straight day, on support from a weaker dollar and strong demand for US supplies due to a drought-reduced crop in South America. End-of-week profit taking limited gains, but soya beans still remained poised for a fifth consecutive weekly gain, the longest such run since late 2010.
Chicago Board of Trade May soya beans rose 0.1 percent to $13.71 per bushel by 10:14 am CDT (1514 GMT), the highest for a front-month contract since September 15. CBOT May wheat was 0.2 percent higher at $6.63-1/2 a bushel. CBOT May corn fell 0.3 percent to $6.67 a bushel after hitting a session high of $6.73-3/4 shortly after the open.
