Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has expressed solidarity with the business community of Karachi against extortions and urged the government to take a decisive action against the extortionist who are not only spoiling the business atmosphere but also tarnishing the image of the country.
The PIAF Chairman Sohail Lashari in a statement on Saturday said that it was very unfortunate that despite knowing about Karachi situation, it has shown least interest in controlling the rising trend of extortions. He said that business community of Lahore fully endorses the viewpoint of business community of Karachi on rising extortion incidents and deteriorating law and order situation.
He said that only because of these anti social elements the biggest industrial city of the country was fast losing its charm and the investments are declining. He strongly condemned the killing of several businessmen in recent street crimes in Karachi.
He said that fast increasing criminal activities in the markets and industrial areas - including extortion, kidnapping for ransom and dacoities - are spiralling out of control, causing widespread fear in the business community. He said that the government's failure to control the situation is putting a big question mark on the ability of the government to run the affairs of the state. The PIAF Chairman urged the PM to look into the issue and help the business community in getting rid of these anti-social elements.
