Annual sports festival of Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) was held on Saturday at Punjab Stadium. Professor Dr Tariq Salahuddin, Principal PGMI and LGH, inaugurated the sports event which was participated by more than 200 players who were mostly doctors, nurses, student nurses and their family members.
The participants took part in leg race, Chati race, sack race, musical chairs, Gol Gappay eating competition and a number of other games with zeal and zest. Student nurses especially showed a great deal of enthusiasm on the occasion while the spectators supported their favourite players with standing ovation.
The spectators waived national flags and multicolour balloons were also released in the air. Speaking at the event, Professor Dr Tariq Sallahuddin termed the sports festival as very positive and healthy activity and said it would improve physical fitness and mental concentration of hospital staff who remained extremely busy in looking after the patients and fighting against diseases.
Moreover, sports activities would also expose the hidden talent and physical capabilities of the participants and thereby improve their confidence, he added. Professor Dr Tariq Sallahuddin said that health and fitness were very important for those who served the ailing humanity.
