Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC), as part of its assistance programme, has so far reconstructed six fully-damaged schools in flood-hit areas to ensure an effective learning environment for students.
In the first phase, six permanent school buildings out of total 33 are reconstructed in the communities of Badalai, Shinkoo and Manai of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) while 17 partially damaged schools were rehabilitated to improve classroom and hygiene conditions in the district of Swat, as well as in communities in Charsadda and Nowshera districts.
As per details available with APP, the SDC has facilitated the construction of four Transitional School Structures of UNICEF in Charsadda and Nowshera districts. These school structures are later on used as Women's Centres.
ln co-operation with UN-HABITAT, local self-builders are trained in "building back better" at the Competence Centers, which are set up at the school reconstruction sites.
