Minister Bijarani committed suicide after shooting wife: police
A day after Sindh Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and his wife Fariha Razak were found dead in their home, the police have revealed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) minister committed suicide after killing his wife on Thursday.
The police revealed this in an official statement released on Friday by deputy inspector general police (DIG) of South Zone Karachi, local media reported. On basis of initial postmortem report and the crime scene evidence, it seemed that Bijarani had shot dead his wife and then killed himself with the same weapon, the statement reads.
According to the press release, Fariha's body was found lying on the floor near the entrance of the study/sitting room located adjacent to their bedroom. Whereas, Bijrani's body was found on the couch in the same room.
Fariha's X-ray report revealed that she was shot thrice, once each on head, abdomen and pelvic area. Bijarani's report confirmed that he had received one gunshot in the head, entry from the right and exit from the left.
Upon investigation, six persons, including two police guards and four domestic servants, revealed that there had been a squabble between the husband and wife since last few days on some issue.
PPP minister Mir Hazar Khan Bajarani, wife found dead in Karachi
Bijarani's funeral prayers will be held at his native Karampur village in Kashmore today. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other members of PPP are expected to attend the funeral. On the other hand, Fariha will be laid to rest in Karachi.
Bijarani was currently serving as the Minister of Planning and Development and was a senior politician of PPP and served many times as the federal and provincial minister during the tenures of his party. His wife was elected as a member of the Sindh Assembly in 2002 and remained in the position till 2007.
