Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) strongly condemned the disruption to cable network in large areas of Karachi by workers of a political party. In the past other political parties have also illegally interfered with the public's right to know.
In an emergent meeting held here on Tuesday the board of directors of PBA discussed the issue and decided to form a sub-committee to take appropriate measures to protect its members from such coercive tactics which interfere with media freedom enshrined in the Constitution. The meeting also strongly condemned the firing on GEO News office in Karachi and vandalisation of DSNG van.
While the meeting was taking place PBA was informed by Chairman CAP of continued cutting off cable. PBA resolved to meet the challenge with full force. The following directors of the Board attended the meeting Muhammad Aslam Kazi, Syed Sarfraz Hussain Shah, Arshad Zuberi, Ilyas Shakir, Mir Ibrahim Rahman, Taher A Khan, Shakeel Masud Hussain, Duraid Qureshi, Abdul Jabbar, Sultan Ali Lakhani and Arshad W Kiyani.-PR
