Bill Gates believes artificial intelligence will let humans vacation more
The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) even led the billionaire Bill Gates talking about it. He regarded AI as something that will send humans to longer ‘vacations’ and that is a positive thing.
Gates had earlier pointed out the threat AI poses to human jobs since the field has spreading to almost everything now. This time Gates added a bit of lightness and said that though AI will replace jobs and we won’t be able to do anything about it, but the end might be satisfactory.

Gates exclaimed that the takeover of human jobs by robots will eventually result in more free time and will make humans more efficient as well. In an interview with Fox Business, the Microsoft founder said, “Well, certainly we can look forward to the idea that vacations will be longer at some point. If we can actually produce twice as much as we make today with less labor, the purpose of humanity is not just to sit behind a counter and sell things. More free time is not a terrible thing.”
He said that though AI has already taken over jobs from low-wage workers, it’s resulting in better management of our time. He said through machine learning, humans will become more productive and can achieve the same amount of work in less time, which is a good thing, reported CNBC.
Gates also said that this switch will not be easy and the government may need to create a safety net that will retrain the employees for the new economy. “There will be challenges because the rate of change will be faster in these next 20 years than it’s been before,” said Gates.
