The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday allowed Zakarya Ahmad Abd Alftah, brother of Osama's Yemeni widow, to meet his sister, who is in the custody of law enforcement agencies since May last year. Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan of IHC also issued notices to Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Ministries of Defence and Interior to submit replies within two weeks over the petition filed by Osama's brother-in-law.
On March 21, the IHC admitted the petition filed by Zakarya Ahmad Abd Alftah for hearing wherein he had sought court directions to allow him to meet his sister and her children. The court issued directives to the concerned authorities to allow Abd Alfattah to meet his sister and her five children, saying that the court would take action if authorities refused to allow him to see his sister. Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan asked Abd Alfattah to file an application of contempt of court on March 24 if he was not allowed to visit his sister.
The petitioner has also pleaded the court to quash First Information Report (FIR) registered against his sister Amal Ahmad Abdul Fattah, widow of Osama bin Laden. Zakarya while taking to journalists outside the court said that he was happy with the court directives and hoped his sister would soon be freed along with her children. The court adjourned hearing of the case for two weeks.
