The Lahore High Court restrained the Punjab University (PU) for using huge university funds for laptop distribution ceremony. Former PU employees union president Chaudhry Nazir had contended in his petition that PU had allocated 30 million rupees for a function of laptop distribution ceremony attended by Chief Minister Punjab without approval of university syndicate.
He said it is misuse of the funds meant for the students and the university. He said posters of students have also been displaced on public placed in the city without their permission which is illegal and immoral. The court observed that a fund meant for the welfare of the students could not be misused and restraining vice chairman PU from holding such ceremony called for report from him.
