Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan has said that youth is a potential change agent for the development of nation, therefore there is need for channelling the energies of 63 percent population of country which is youth.
He said this while addressing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between department of Mass Communication, Lahore College for Women University, (LCWU) and Plan International, Pakistan here on Thursday. This MoU was signed to enhance the capacity building of young journalists on adolescents' issues. Besides MoU signing, launching of LCWU Hub and first e-newsletter was another eminent feature of the ceremony.
On this occasion, LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor, Country Director of Plan International Pakistan Rasheed Javed, Director of Hameed Nizami Press Institute Absar Abdul Ali, and Dr Anjum Zia along Deans, HoDs, faculty members and students of LCWU, and eminent guests from media and development sector were present on the occasion.
Speaker highlighted the need of recreational activities for youth of Pakistan while elucidating the contributions of Punjab government for youth. "We are very hopeful that the educational institutions like LCWU and Plan International can create awareness among Youth. Now we have to move together for the development of nation and eradication of corruption to give a peaceful and developed land to our next generation," he opined.
Dr Sabiha Mansoor appreciated the efforts and contributions of Plan International Pakistan and congratulated Dr Anjum Zia, In charge of Mass Communication Department and her team and students.
She said initiative of collaboration between public and private sector would be quite fruitful for the development of youth. Sabiha said Plan Pakistan and LCWU were working on vision 2020 according to which they would produce moderate and enlightened graduates to contribute for national development. Mansoor stressed that Pakistani media should focus on the solution of the problems instead of creating panic among masses.
She requested Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly to give more facilities to the youth for recreation. On this occasion, Dr Sabiha Mansoor launched the first e-newsletter of LCWU, LCWU HUB, by clicking the University website. She appreciated the efforts of Dr Anjum Zia and her team for this step as LCWU HUB was produced by Department of Mass Communication for the University's activities dissemination. Later Dr Anjum Zia gave a presentation about the e-newsletter of University.
