Asian Development Bank (ADB) has granted $1,50,000 for creating awareness on the administration of justice, relating to environmental law, among the legal fraternity and presiding officers of the trial courts in next two and half years. Hamid Sarfraz Programme Coordinator International Union of Conservation of Nature (ICUN) accompanied with Additional Registrar, Supreme Court, Sajid Mehmood Qazi informed the media during a press conference here on Thursday.
Qazi told that all the five judicial academies including federal judicial academy Islamabad will meet the target to create awareness among the presiding officers of the trial courts in various sessions for strengthening their approach towards addressing the environmental issues in Pakistan. Meanwhile, a two-day South Asia conference on Environmental Justice will also commence from March 24 to discuss environment law and policy, its adjudication, education and capacity building where local and international lawyers, judges of superior judiciary and trial court will participate.
