One of the most iconic musicians of the country Nisar Bazmi's 5th death anniversary was observed on Thursday. He was born in 1924 in Bombay. His father was Syed Qudrat Ali. Bazmi had no musical background. His first film `Jamna Paar' was released in 1946 that immediately established him as a first-rate composer, reported a private news channel.
Bazmi composed songs for more than 40 films in India including the names of 'Jeb Katra', 'Daghabaaz Dost', 'Extra Girl' and 'Khaufnaak Aankhein', 28 of which were released before he migrated to Pakistan on June 21, 1962. He composed songs for twenty four films in India before migrating to Pakistan in 1962 and composed music for sixty six films in Pakistan.
In Pakistan, he started his career with the film 'Aisa Bhi Hota Hai'. His national songs were as popular as his film numbers. PTV played a great role in popularising 'Yeh watan tumhara hai', 'Khayal rakhna', `Hum zinda qaum hain' and 'Aae rooh-e-Quaid'. Nisar Bazmi composed music for 66 films in Pakistan. His first film was 'Head Constable' in 1964 and the last was `Very Good Duniya Very Bad Log' in 1998. During his musical career in Pakistan, he composed many hit songs for Runa Laila, Ahmed Rushdi, Noor Jehan and Mehdi Hassan. He was responsible for introducing Alamgir into film music in Pakistan.
