Corps Commander Lieutenant General Mohammad Ijaz Chaudhry on Friday conferred awards upon various military officers and shuhadas (martyrs) in a simple but graceful ceremony held at Corps Auditorium in connection with Pakistan Day. A large number of serving and retired military officials, relatives or awardees attended the ceremony.
Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) was given to Brigadier Pervaiz Ahmed Aftab, Brigadier Azhar Manzoor, Brigadier Hamid Abdullah, Brigadier Muhammad Azam, Brigadier Farrukh Saeed, Brigadier Furqan Uddin and Colonel Waheed Akhtar. Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) was awarded to Group Captain Muhammad Saleem, Captain Azhar Iqbal, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rauf, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Khan, Lieutenant Colonel Zahid Mahmood, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Mazhar Jahangir, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Ghaffar Khan, Lieutenant Colonel Syed Taqi Ahmad, Lieutenant Colonel Shahab Ahmed, Lieutenant Colonel Nabi Bux, Major Muhammad Khalid Rafi, Major Rao Abdus Samad Khan Sajid, Major Syed Abdullah, Major Muhammad Tarique, Major Manzoor Hasan Khan, Major Sayed Akhlaq Muhammad, Major Naveed Shoukat, Major Amjad Mahmood.
Tamgha-e-Basalat was given to Jamila Bibi w/o Havaldar Abdul Sattar (Shaheed), Razia w/o Havaldar Khair Muhammad (Shaheed), Samreena Bibi w/o Naik Bahadur Sher (Shaheed), Budhai Bibi w/o Naik Ghulam Qadir (Shaheed), Rahat Khatoon w/o Lance Naik Muhammad Akram (Shaheed), Sakeena w/o Sepoy Ghulam Murtaza (Shaheed), Kalsoom Bano w/o Sepoy Pervaiz Hashim (Shaheed), Kamal Khatoon m/o Sepoy Ahmed Nawaz (Shaheed), Fouzia Bibi w/o Sepoy Farhad Khan (Shaheed), Shanila Abid w/o Sepoy Abid Ali (Shaheed), Muradan w/o Sepoy Mazhar Ali (Shaheed), Fahmeeda w/o Sepoy Rab Nawaz (Shaheed), Saran Bibi m/o of Sepoy Mureed Hussain (Shaheed), Fareeda Bibi w/o Sepoy Noor Bakhsh (Shaheed), Ghulam Rasool f/o Sepoy Asif Ali (Shaheed), Azra Begum w/o Sapper Muhammad Ahsan (Shaheed), Reema w/o Sepoy Asad Ali (Shaheed), Asha Khatoon w/o Sepoy Liaquat Ali, (Shaheed), Ghulam Sakeena m/o Sepoy Mubeen Ali (Shaheed) and Lattu w/o Signal man Saleh (Shaheed).
Addressing the function, the Corps Commander congratulated the awardees and also paid rich tribute to the martyrs. He reiterated the Army's firm resolve in defending the motherland, specially when the cunning enemy has confronted the country with internal and external challenges.
