As the city remained completely shut after the murder of MQM activist and his brother, Sindh Minister for Information Shazia Marri put the ball for maintaining city's law and order situation in coalition's court, saying that Altaf Hussain should co-operate with the government for identifying the criminals.
This she said while addressing the hurriedly called press conference at her office. She vowed that reconciliation politics would continue and those killing innocent people and torching vehicles in the city were against the elected government. The coalition partner MQM has mandate in the city and party chief Altaf Hussein should point out the elements involved in killing and torching vehicles, she said.
Shazia said that under the reconciliation policy, the MQM has been given government's support and in return the MQM should also support the government to ensure peace in the city. "The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is not afraid of threats received to its ministers and the MPAs and such criminal elements would shortly be exposed. Those involved in killing innocent citizens and torching vehicles were terrorists and they could not be the political workers", she added.
Information Minister said that PPP has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the killing of MQM worker, she said, adding that Karachi was an economic hub of the country. And, any loss to city is directly affects the country's economy so that stern action would be taken against those creating law and order situation in the city, she continued. Marri further added that no such incident took place even after the murder of PPP Chairperson Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and those involved in bhatta collection, killing people were trying to destabilise the government.
