The most-traded June copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange climbed 0.88 percent to 60,710 yuan ($9,600) a tonne on Tuesday. In other metals, Chinese demand for zinc and lead from the galvanised steel and battery sector is slowly but surely picking up, said Angela Bi of Macquarie in Shanghai. ShFE June zinc futures traded at 15,640 yuan at 0706 GMT, up 0.97 percent. The ShFE June lead contract traded up 0.35 percent at 15,625 at 0706 GMT.
