Petition against fuel adjustment charges: LHC issues notice to government, authorities
The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court here on Tuesday issued notice to the Federal government, Pepco, Wapda, Nepra and Lesco in a petition filed by Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) against fuel adjustment charges. The Chief Justice while seeking their replies within ten days directed the Deputy Attorney General to submit a report on fuel adjustment charges in the electricity bills.
The President LCCI Irfan Qaiser Sheikh through his counsel Shahram Sarwar has challenged the fuel adjustment charges in the monthly electricity bills. The LCCI has taken the plea on the ground that the line losses and theft in province of Punjab are the lowest as compared to the other parts of the country while the power outages are the highest. The petitioner therefore prayed to the court to direct the concerned authorities to withdraw fuel adjustment charges.
