Hundreds of MQM workers including members of Co-ordination Committee, MNAs, MPAs and Senators attended the funeral prayers of MQM workers Mansoor Mukhtar, 38 (PIB Sector member) and his elder brother Masood Mukhtar at Jinnah Ground, who were murdered by unidentified terrorists, who barged into their house in wee hours on Tuesday.
On the occasion, all MQM workers tied black band on their arms in order to mourn the death of their workers. Moulana Ferozuddin Rehmani led the funeral prayers. Some emotional scenes were also witnessed when the bodies of the deceased wrapped in MQM flag arrived at Jinnah Ground for funeral prayers. MQM Co-ordination Committee had announced Tuesday a day of mourning in Sindh against the killing of sector member Mansoor Mukhtar in PIB Colony by the criminals and terrorists of the gang war.
The Co-ordination Committee said that a number of terrorists of the Lyari gang war attacked the house of sector member Mansoor Mukhtar early in the morning. They stormed into the house and killed him by firing indiscriminately. His brother Maqsood Mukhtar and sister-in-law Uzma Maqsood also received bullet injuries. The terrorists ransacked the entire house and took away the valuables. The terrorists also injured Muhammad Yousuf, a resident of Nishtar Basti, and Muhammad Amjab who resides in Ghousia Colony of the PIB Area.
The Co-ordination Committee said the terrorists of the gang war had been targeting the MQM workers and sympathisers for quite some time, but no action was taken against them. The committee said martyrdom of a sector member was a big loss for the MQM for which the day of mourning had been announced in Sindh on Tuesday. The committee added that the courage and resolve of the workers could not be subsided by such dastardly terrorist attacks.
The Co-ordination Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Home Minister Manzoor Wassan to take action against the terrorists involved in the martyrdom of Mansoor Mukhtar and bring them to justice.
Meanwhile, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the killing of Mansoor Mukhtar and inquired about details of the incident from the unit and sector committees. The office-bearers of the unit and sector told MQM Chief that the criminals and terrorists of the gang war were targeting the MQM workers and sympathisers in the area constantly, but no action was being taken by the police and the administration.
While offering his condolences to the office-bearers and workers of the PIB sector, he said the martyrdom of Mansoor Mukhtar was a big tragedy and advised the workers to bear the loss with patience and fortitude. MQM Chief expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of Mansoor Mukhtar and said their grief was equally shared by each worker of the MQM.
He prayed for the divine forgiveness of the departed soul and early recovery of the people injured in the terrorist attack. Altaf Hussain has demanded of the government to quell the wave of terrorism in the city and arrest the terrorist elements involved in the martyrdom of Mansoor Mukhtar.
