Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) has advised its consumers to pay fuel adjustment surcharges in the current bills which were levied by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for the month of August 2011.
In a clarification issued here on Wednesday LESCO spokesman said the government has stayed for the time being recovery of additional fuel adjustment surcharges at the rate of Rs 6.39 per unit approved by NEPRA for the months of October, November, December 2011 and January 2012.
He said the fuel adjustment surcharges included in the current electricity bills in addition to the actual electricity price related to the month of August 2011, therefore they are payable by the consumers. He appealed to the people protesting against unscheduled and prolonged outages not to destroy the government properties and machinery otherwise it would become impossible for LESCO workers to maintain uninterrupted power supply. It may be added that LESCO supplies electricity to 3.4 million domestic, commercial, industrial, and agriculture connections in five thickly populated districts of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana, Okara and Qasur.
