The Executive Board of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday rejected a plea bargain request of former S.E Wapda Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid Khan. In its meeting chaired by Chairman NAB, Adm Fasih Bokhari (Retd) here, the Board directed the NAB Punjab to make fair assessment and market value of his assets in two weeks time to facilitate decision in the case of merits.
Chaudhry Rashid Khan owned more than 1100 kanal of agri land and almost 45 plots/flats in different parts of Lahore. The Board also rejected voluntary return request of Syed Mohsin Shah, former DCO D.I. Khan and instead offered him a plea bargain to settle the case of misuse of authority.
The meeting approved the closure of inquiries/investigations against Sikandar Ali Lakhair former EDO Ms Fakhar Karim Siddiqui EDO, Ms Fakhar Karim Siddiqui EDO, Karachi, Muhammad Sadiq Majid, Syed Khurshid Shah MNA and Ghulam-ud-Din Marwat former MNA from KPK for want of evidence.
The Board decided to close the investigation against Khalid Mohi-ud-Din, Chief Controller of Stores, Saeed Akhtar, GM Railways and Sami Khilji, Former Secretary Pakistan Railways in a contract tender of scrap as the loss suffered by public exchequer was recovered by NAB.
The Board decided to defer reference against Chief Controller of Stores and two others in another Railway Case and directed to obtain evidence to facilitate proper filing of reference. The Chairman specifically directed that the accused involved in the scam should be arrested immediately.
The meeting was apprised of the progress report on realization of investments, made by the affectees in M/s Aglam Global (Qasr-e-Zauk) case and was informed that the market price of the property by different evaluators will be determined immediately and a receiver is also likely to be appointed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) who would look after the interest of investors to ensure safe return of their investments to them.
