Telenor Pakistan is set to launch a nation-wide project that will help empower a new digital generation. Telenor Talkshawk I-Champ is a knowledge-based initiative that aims to provide learning and training to young people, enabling them to become future proponents in the Digital Age.
To mark the occasion, a ceremony was held to formally welcome the government of AJK as a partner of the initiative. The delegation from AJK was led by Chaudhry Abdul Majid, Prime Minister of AJK, says a press release issued on Friday. A MoU between Telenor Pakistan and government of AJK regarding the holding of workshops in schools was signed by Aamer Izhar, Vice President Corporate Affairs & Security, Telenor Pakistan and Muhammad Sadiq Dar, Secretary Education, Government of AJK and senior officials presented.
Aamer Izhar thanked the AJK Prime Minister and said, "This is proof that the government of AJK is committed, at the highest level, to promote digital awareness among the youth so that they are able to use modern technologies to compete as a global citizen anywhere in the world." "Through the project we intend to create a healthy and conducive learning environment for children, parents and school faculty," he added.
Muhammad Sadiq Dar, Secretary Education AJK also spoke on the occasion and said, "The AJK Government is committed to providing its citizens with quality education. Part of this is our youth becoming fully conversant with today's digital technologies. So it is imperative that they are able to use the power of the internet for education and a brighter tomorrow for themselves and their families." Competitions will be held in select schools as part of the Telenor Talkshawk I-Champ project and finalists will get to visit Opera Labs in Norway to learn more about how the internet is being used by people around the world to gain and spread knowledge.-PR
