Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement, Karachi, has informed the Federal Board of Revenue that a company operating Off-Dock Container Freight Station at Karachi has sought extension in the facility for handling and export of perishable agro-based cargo from Karachi Port.
It is learnt here on Saturday that the Collector of Customs MCC Appraisement Karachi has written a letter to the FBR in this regard. The company has requested for issuance of notification under section 10 and section 78 of the Customs Act 1969 for grant of Off Dock Container Freight Station of M/s Burma Oil Mills Limited (BOML) TCW for customs processing of export of agro-based food products from Karachi Port. According to the Collector of Customs MCC Appraisement Karachi, the request of M/s BOML has been examined. M/s Burma Oil Mills Limited (BOML) is already operating an Off Dock Container Freight Station at Karachi.
Now they have requested for extension of the facility for handling and export of perishable agro-based cargo as they have developed temperature controlled multi purpose facility for handling export cargo. In order to process the aforesaid request and submit conclusive recommendations to Board for notifying M/s BOMI - TCW as Customs Station under section 9,10 & 78 of the Customs Act, 1969, the applicant is required to fulfil the documentary requirements as per Rule 343 of Customs Rules, 2001, in addition to a revolving insurance guarantee covering the Government dues in respect of the imported consignments for the cargo operating in transit/transportation to and from M/s BOML-TCW.
Besides, the proposed location of M/s BOML-TCW is adjacent to the Pakistan Navy Yard, therefore, they may also require NOC from the Ministry of Defence/ Pakistan Navy. In view of the above the Board may like to direct the applicant to complete all the requisite formalities and arrange for inspection of the proposed site by MCC-Appraisement, Custom House, Karachi for further processing and report to the Board accordingly, Collector of Customs MCC Appraisement Karachi added.
