Rejecting the massive increase in petroleum products' prices, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday announced to boycott the ongoing crucial meeting of Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) in protest.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan dubbed the increase in the prices of petroleum products and CNG as cruel and unjust act on part of the government which had broken the back of the masses.
He said that as a first step against this anti-people decision of the government, his party would go for boycotting the meeting of PCNS, which is engaged in reviewing its recommendations regarding new terms of engagements with US.
Nisar noted that the record increase in the prices of these commodities was not only a brutal act but also manifestation of the bad governance of the incumbent PPP-led regime. The exorbitant increase in POL prices, he added, reflects that people sitting at helm of affairs enjoying when they see poor masses suffering.
He laughed off government's claims that local prices go up automatically due to fluctuation of petroleum products' prices at the international market, saying that it is like befooling masses.
"Just tell me for how long they [rulers] will keep on plundering by emptying the pockets of people for their lavish life style and to do embezzlement," he added.
He called upon people to come on streets against increase in POL prices as the government has simply crossed all the limits of decency. "All the political parties, traders and people should be united to block such injustices being done to people by the government," he maintained.
He also announced to hold a protest demonstration in Rawalpindi on Monday against increase in petroleum and CNG prices. For future line of action, Nisar said, top party leadership would be consulted and other political forces would be taken on board to chalk out a strategy to counter this unjust step of the government.
