The Supreme Court was approached through a civil miscellaneous application (CMA) with a plea to eradicate irregularities and illegalities in promotional matters of the Sindh Police on Tuesday.
The applicants, Syed Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi and others, filed the CMA, calling inherent power of the court under Rule 6 of Supreme Court Rules 1980, making Federation through Federal Law Secretary, Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Interior Secretary Sindh, Inspector General of Police Sindh, Chief Secretary Sindh and others respondents.
Naqvi prayed that record pertaining to seniority list of the Sindh Police should be produced before the court so that out-of-turn promotion related issues may be resolved on permanent basis under the court direction. Naqvi alleged that some police officials were violating the court as well as Inspector General Police orders because they were given out of turn promotion from DSP to SP. He sought the constitution of a committee under the chairmanship of a retired judge of the apex court to look into different matters of irregularities in Sindh Police.
