WAPDA employees on Tuesday held a protest demonstration against the recent hike in petroleum products, CNG prices, and kidnapping of their colleague on main Sher Shah Suri road near Peshawar Press Club. The protesters were spearheaded by the Chairman Pakistan Wapda Hydro Union Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Haji Muhammad Iqbal, General secretary Gohar Taj along with dozens of employees.
The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the unprecedented increase in petroleum products, price hike, unemployment and corruption in the country. Talking to reporters Haji Mohammad Iqbal said that the recent hike in petroleum products would increase inflation and unemployment, saying that the government had totally failed to provide any sort of relief to the masses. The government had not taken any steps to address the key issues confronting the country, he added. He advised the government to cut down on its expenditure to resolve issues facing the poor masses.
