Federal Minister for Communications, Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan, has directed the NHA to start construction work on Akhagram-Dir section of Nowshera-Chakdara-Chitral National Highway (N-45) at the earliest and expressed the hope that reasonable increase in PSDP will enable NHA to execute all the projects in stipulated period.
He issued these directives during a briefing here on Thursday. Chairman National Highways Authority (NHA) Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi, while briefing on the project, informed that the Akhagram-Dir section is an important segment of N-45 Similarly, he said that the Temargrah-Akhagram section had already been completed with the assistance of the NLC. He further informed that a PC-I for Akhagram-Dir section is process of getting approval from CDWP and the Ecnec as well.
Former Minister Najam-ud-Din Khan on the occasion drew attention towards the dilapidated condition of the road and the difficulties being faced by the people of the area. He said that locals are demanding for early rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road. National Highway schemes in Balochistan province were also reviewed. Ali Gardezi informed that the contraction work of all ongoing projects in Balochistan is in full swing, saying that NHA required an amount of Rs 105 billion to complete all the schemes in the projected period.
