A stinking garbage container shifted during the recent domestic T-20 tournament has again been placed in front of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium (RCS), thanks to traditional apathy of Solid Waste Management authorities. The residents demanded the allocation of a secluded corner of Nawaz Sharif Park for permanently getting rid of the menace.
The overloaded stinking garbage container poses serious health challenge to the passer-by, especially children, who visit Nawaz Sharif Park for entertainment.
The container not only hinders the rear parking of Nawaz Sharif Park but also disturbs the visiting children of the play area. "An inside corner of Nawaz Sharif Park must be allocated for placing the garbage container for resolving the problem once for all," said Mohammad Ali, a resident of the area.
Solid Waste Management officials must pay heed to their serious issue for resolving this chronic problem of the residents of double road and elsewhere, he said.
Talking to APP, the visitors of Nawaz Sharif Park expressed their annoyance over the apathy of the concerned authorities as one can notice stench from the children play areas of the park.
People also confront great difficulties in parking their vehicles at the rear gate of Nawaz Sharif Park due to the presence of the container, which always filled up to the brim and the rest of trash scattered all around.
The garbage heaps scattered in front of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium (RCS) give an unpleasant look of the stadium. The management used to shift the container during a tournament and return it when the matches are over.
The concerned authorities, especially Solid Waste Management officials are unmoved despite persistent complaints of the residents of nearby areas and hue and cry of media. Perhaps the officials even do not know the existence of a stench emanating garbage container at such an important place.
Moreover, putting the trash on fire further causes air pollution and adds to the misery of players as well as the visitors of Nawaz Sharif Park.
