In view of Siachen tragedy, the National Weather Forecasting Centre (NWFC) is operating round the clock duly supported by satellite/radar information system, Met office said on Tuesday. Updates about weather may be obtained as and when required through following numbers 051-9250363, 051-9250364, 051-9280815, 051-9260816.
In a special advisory, Met office said snowfall expected over Siachen and surrounding areas during next 24 hours. Rain/Dust-Thunderstorm were also predicted over upper parts of the country for today (Wednesday). It said a fresh westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country. Under the influence of this weather system, rain/dust-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in KP, Upper Punjab and Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan during next 24 hours. It said snowfall is also expected over the high mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan/Kashmir including Siachen on Wednesday.
In its daily weather report Met office said rain/dust-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places of KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, D I Khan division), upper Punjab (Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore,Faisalabad), Zhob division, Gilgit-Baltistan & Kashmir.
During the last 24 hours, dust-thunderstorm occurred at scattered places of KP, Upper Punjab, Quetta divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan & Kashmir. Weather remained hot & dry elsewhere in the country.
