The 12 percent shares of 59 State Owned Entities (SOEs) have been distributed free of cost among 236,306 employees under the Benazir Employee Stock Option Scheme (BESOS).
The majority of the beneficiaries belong to power and energy sector, an official in Ministry of Privatisation told APP. He said that the Trust of 59 SOEs had been registered and Unit Certificates had also been delivered to their respective employees.
"Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation (PESCO) remained at the top by benefiting 16,933 employees under the BESOS scheme while Pakistan International Airline (PIA) stood at second position by transmitting benefits to their 16,865 employees", the official added.
Under the scheme, 16,248 beneficiary employees are from Faisalabad Electric Supply Corporation (FESCO) while that of 15,991 from Multan Electric Power Corporation (MEPCO).
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has distributed the units to 15,204 employees while Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) distributed 15,050 units to its employees.
The BESOS scheme has benefited 12,888 employees of Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation (PSMC) and 12,676 employees of Islamabad Electric Supply Company Ltd (IESCO).
