The Meezan Bank hosted the Shariah Supervisory Council meeting of the Sri Lanka-based Amana Bank at its head office, a press release said on Thursday. Supported by the bank's product development and Shariah compliance team, the board's meeting was preceded by meetings discussing Meezan Bank's products and services offered in Pakistan, it said.
The eight-day visit by the Amana Bank delegation is part of a recently-signed agreement between the two banks under which the Meezan Bank is providing Shariah advisory and product development services to the Sri Lankan bank.
The Amana Bank's Shariah Supervisory Council meeting was attended by various Islamic scholars from Sri Lanka and Malaysia and representatives of the Meezan Bank.-PR
