The Institute of Architects Pakistan opened its 8th 'IAPex 2012' exhibition here at the Expo Centre on Friday. This year's theme for the exhibition and conference is 'Building Bridges'. Sindh Minister for Revenue Jam Mehtab, who was chief guest at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, congratulated the Institute of Architects Pakistan, Karachi Chapter (IAP-KC) for organising such a mega event and striving for bringing professionals, students and industry people together to build a better Pakistan.
He emphasised on thinking globally and practising professionally for a prosperous Pakistan. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman IAP-KC Arshad Faruqui said that IAPex was not just an exhibition of building materials and products, but it also offered a forum for an intellectual discourse.
He said that the institute was trying to focus on the aspects, which were essential for forming a better understanding and relationship with the building industry, educational institutions and other organisations. "Throughout the year, we have focused on events which have been helpful in forming a better relationship between the senior and younger generation of architects," he added.
President IAP Shahab Ghani appreciated the institute's Karachi chapter for holding such an exhibition. He said that architects must build bridges and harness relationships with the people who would ultimately live in the environment being built. Expressing his gratitude to all the participants, supporters and sponsors, Convenor, IAPex 2012, Adil Kerai said that over the past seven years, the event had emerged as the most popular exhibition of building materials, not only in Karachi but also in many other cities of the country. He further said that continuing to attract the target audience, IAPex was keenly attended and participated by leading manufacturers and suppliers of the building industry.
He thanked all fellow architects, colleagues and students who participated in the event and made it a pleasant experience. Besides Pakistan, renowned professionals from Sri Lanka and Berlin have been invited to attend the exhibition.
