The OIC Ambassadors Conference, being arranged by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in collaboration with the ministry of foreign affairs, will be held on Saturday (today) at Bhurban. Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar will be the chief guest. Envoys of all 57 OIC countries are participating in this first-ever conference.
The objective of this conference is to strengthen trade and economic relations among the Muslim countries. Leading economists would present their papers on various facets of intra-OIC trade while ways and means to develop mechanism for free trade among the Muslim states would also be discussed.
The conference's first session would start with an inaugural speech by LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, followed by a speech by the foreign minister. Vice-President of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and President FPCCI Senator Ghulam Ali would also address the participants. Two presentations, including 'Free Trade among OIC states' and 'Establishment of OIC Common Market' would also be presented. In the second session, a joint communiqué would be prepared after a detailed discussion among key stakeholders.
